I think I've slowed down on the scarf knitting frenzy, just a little. I started the mulberry one (for my mom) last weekend, but it's still not finished. I mostly knit on it at work during my lunch hour while I read websites. Maybe two or three rows a day. I'll probably finished it today or tomorrow, and then I'm not sure what I'll start. I've got yarn for five or six more scarves, plus the Lush for the hot water bottle. Plus all that sock yarn that I've never knitted up because I can't find the perfect pattern.
I've kind of enjoyed the almost completely mindless knitting of the scarves, although with Chinchilla you really have to keep your eyes open. It's easy to drop stitches, and they just disappear, becoming almost impossible to find and fix. I'm going to have to go over each scarf carefully to be sure I didn't miss any before I give them away.
Oh, and I did rip out the Homespun scarf. I wound the yarn into balls and started a Prayer Shawl. Since it's going to grow so large, and because of the large needles, it's become my "at home" project--it lives in a basket beside my chair, where I generally get to knit a row or two in the evenings before my lap is taken over by a cat. Last night it was only one row. She (Dinah) will let me knit while she sits on my lap, but it's very uncomfortable having to hold the knitting above her, so I usually just give in and read.
Last night it was Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird, because that was the only book I could reach without dislodging the cat. Not spoiled, though, are they?
