I sat down and looked through the new issue of Knitter's this afternoon. I know several people wrote that they didn't like it, and one person said that she was just waiting for her subscription to end, and I'd been like that, too, but this issue was the one that made me say, okay, I'll renew it!
I almost never see anything in there that I'm interested in making, as opposed to Interweave Knits, where I generally like almost everything in the issue. But this issue of Knitter's was mostly scarves--not that I'm all that in love with scarves--but they were normal things, mostly, with a few twists--things that I could imagine making.
I've never made a sweater for myself; I've made a couple for babies, but I've just never wanted to invest that much time and money on something for myself--mostly the time, of course. I'm more interested in small projects, like scarves and hats and mittens. And now socks . . . The neverending sock is still neverending, although I try to knit a few rows every day. I think I only have about an inch to go before I start doing the toe. Then I can finally try it on and see if I got it right.
The problem is that I'm not knitting on my lunch hours anymore, I'm writing. At least through the end of November, when I finish NaNoWriMo. Then I can get back to my real life!

Hit 24,000 words on the novel this morning; I should be able to knock out enough to get over the 25,000 word halfway mark tonight. That's a couple of days late, so I'll be pushing it to get 50,000 by the end of the month, but so far I've only missed one day of writing, so I'm feeling pretty good about it. And a couple of people wrote today and said they liked it--and one of them I don't even know!
