TSA - Transportation Security Administration publishes an updated list of items prohibited and permitted on aircraft. I just wanted to see which list knitting needles were on, and happily, they're on the "Permitted" list.

I ripped out the stupid sock again. I could have just finished it, but then I would have had to make another one just like it, and I knew I wouldn't like them. I figure I might as well try to get it right. So I ripped it out, wound the yarn into a ball again, and looked at all my sock books and patterns and tried to figure out what to do. I still haven't decided.

The good part is that now I know I can do this--I can knit a sock! I just can't (yet) knit one that fits my foot . . . But I will!

Sunday, November 03, 2002:

I didn't get much knitting done this weekend. Okay, I didn't get any knitting done this weekend. Most of my creative energy is going into my NaNoWriMo novel. (Here, if you want to peek.) However, I did just now try on the sock and take a picture:

It fits, but it sort of fits exactly, i.e., there' s no stretching involved to get it on. I guess it's better to be bigger than smaller, but it seems like it will stretch out a lot. What about shrinking? Does anyone have any experience with washing Fixation? Does it shrink at all? Am I worrying needlessly? Should I finish this one and go ahead and make another one just like it, or what? Should I (gasp) rip it out again and start over? Should I (I'm guessing this is what I should, and probably will, do) make a sock using a pattern specifically for Fixation? Does it make a difference? So many questions . . .
