I think this is new--Interweave Knits has a list of links called Knitting for Charities, a list of websites detailing information about charities that need donations of knitted items, some that I hadn't heard of before.

I started a Seaman's Scarf over the weekend in Lion Brand Al-pa-ka in Oxford Grey--I had two skeins in my stash, and just wanted to see how it worked up. I like it a lot, but two skeins aren't going to be enough. I assumed I could get it anywhere, but it looks like it's been discontinued. Does anyone know of a source, or have a skein in their stash they'd be willing to part with? Alternatively, I guess I'll just switch gears and make something for the cats, since they love this yarn so much . . . [if you have some, email me ...]

Monday, September 30, 2002:

I got quite a bit of knitting in this weekend. My out-of-town sister was in town, so I spent Saturday with my family and knitted on the shawl for a couple of hours, then on Sunday I propped a book up on the dining room table and knitted and read. I finished the third skein and started on the fourth, then stopped, because we're going out of town this weekend and I didn't want to finish it so I'd something to knit on the trip! Is that pathetic, or what??

Same thing with the vest. I'm almost to the point of starting to decrease for the armholes, so I didn't want to take that with me to my folks' since it would require thinking, and I didn't want to end up having to rip out a bunch. I've been very lucky with this, or very careful--as far as I can tell, I haven't made any mistakes or dropped any stitches, and I haven't had to rip more than two or three stitches out at a time, when I've forgotten to count.
