I was getting tired of the Sock Monkey Stocking and wanted to do something mindless, so I went down in the basement to my old, old yarn stash from when I was knitting before, and found a lot (8-10 skeins) of some cool blue and white acrylic/cotton blend, and I made a bag. I don't know if I'll use it--it probably really needs to be lined, it's WAY too soft and floppy, but I kind of like the way it looks, and basically, it was free, since I'd had the yarn for probably ten years, and I apparently paid $1.00/skein for it (the bag took a little more than one skein).
From KnitNet, a link to an article about knitting jumpers ("sweaters" for Americans) for penguins: Urban Legends Reference Pages: Critter Country (For the Birds). Sounded like a fun project, but alas, they say the penguins have all the sweaters they need.

I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but I'm thinking now maybe a purse, knit in the round, in stripes. I can't find a pattern, though, not that I guess I really need one . . .
One of the grab bags I got last week was a selection of one ball each of every Madrid color. Madrid is a cotton and linen sportweight yarn in very pretty, subdued colors:

I'm working on the Sock Monkey Stocking; I'm a little disappointed in the color I chose for the main color. It's too light, and not "heathery" enough--it should be a gray ragg, but I purposely wanted something more tan, but not quite this tan. Oh well, it will be fine, it's just supposed to look like a work sock anyway.
