For years I have been looking for the"perfect purse' and consequently have accumulated several in the process. There are about three that are close, so I have used those until they are about past being presentable. Two "musts' are an outside pocket for keys and soft leather. The outside pocket must hold assorted pins (2 or 3), highlighter, small brush. In the bottom is my Leatherman multi-tool in its leather case, a buckeye a friend gave me about 20 years ago for good luck and all the change I drop in there and empty when it begins to get heavy. Then there is an old double change purse that holds extra keys to car, house, safety deposit box and garage; a hotel sewing kit, sample perfume, lipstick holder with favorite of the moment, chapstick, tweezers, tape measure and mini Swiss Army knife. It also has a small zippered pocket on the side where I put rings or good earrings if I need to remove them, so if I lose them, that's where I look--and hope! Then there is a tiny tin from Celestial Seasonings that holds extra vitamins, antacid and Advil. A mini bank bag holds our business cards and very small calculator. In the inside zippered pocket is a city map from the phone book, small notebook and/or index cards, usually
emergency cash, a couple of back-up credit cards, my military ID and my Ghinger embroidery scissors. The three
large items are my Casio electronic organizer, wallet with the usual license, credit cards, AAA,AARP,ATM, address
labels, pictures of my son Before I go out the door, I add cell phone, keys and cigarettes--which I am trying to forget. When I travel, I always have a "last minute" bag that usually includes maps, journal, magazine(s), umbrella, flashlight, at least 2 books, something peanut butter, snacks for Tootsie, my dog--if she is coming along, and always a Totes fold-up bag in case I come home with more than I went with. I have either in purse, bag or car, a zip-lock bag with the quilt pins that I do for working on during waiting time in case I don't feel like reading. But, I can go out the door with keys, credit card and 35 cents in my pocket. I feel lost and naked for a while, but soon begin to enjoy the free hands and no worry about the purse.
