What We Carry
***

In my case it is easy to answer TOO MUCH, as anyone who ever traveled with me can attest...even daily to work besides a briefcase of essential work items I always have a separate bag for my *security items* books..magazines...pens...paper...usually my journaling notebook...

On a recent trip to Nashville to the Southern Festival of Books I way overdid myself...It happened without me even knowing it as I got ready over several days putting things in the car when I thought of something..I only realized when the Bellman unloaded my car and there was the luggage caddie piled high I mumbled something about meeting 4 friends which was true only thing is they were bringing their own luggage! Alas my room wasn't ready so that meant they had to tag my luggage and other items :) I ended up with thirteen claim tickets..I began to fervently hope I could get moved into the room and my items concealed so no one would realize just how much I'd brought! Oddly I can't think of one thing that was unessential ..not knowing what the weather would be brought clothes to fit whatever it was....I cannot sleep without my own quilt so that had to come along, admittedly I did bring numerous books but hey it was a Book Festival (think the Bellman thought I was going to be a vendor I just let him assume so :) then there was the food but how was I to know my friends were all bringing *treats* as well, I did become known as the apple and banana lady among the staff since one of my pieces of *luggage* was actually a picnic basket of fruit. A seasoned traveler I'm not before my next trip I'm going to work on the concept of packing lightly!
