~~Traveling through time~~

October 13, 1993, 12:00 midnight

I spent the afternoon with my friend David, and even though I'm barely able to stay awake, I wanted to sit down and write a little bit about it so I don't forget. The details are already beginning to get a little hazy.

We met for lunch and discussed some strange ideas he has about time travel. Supposedly in the year 2021 Harley Hahn will write an introduction to the Second Edition of "The Internet Yellow Pages" and send it through the "Temporal Gateway" to himself in 1994, which he will later describe in the introduction to the Third Edition of the same book. He explained that this impossible-sounding feat will become possible in 2017 when a Berkeley Professor with the unfortunate name of Nipper perfects the technique of sending information into the past.

I had a great deal of trouble understanding how all this works, but this may have been because we had what was perhaps a little (okay, a lot) too much wine with lunch, in addition to possibly some other rather hallucinogenic substances later on, although I'm not really certain about that. In any event, David told me that he intends to write an article explaining all of this which he will be sending to himself in the future in order to send it back to the past, where it will arrive in 1996 and be posted to his web-site, whatever that is.

I must admit that by this point everything was becoming a little fuzzy. He tried to describe what a web-site was, but it didn't make much sense to me (he told me that I would have one, too, but I really can't imagine that, although it does sound interesting). So just in case all this really does come about, I thought I should record as much of it as I could remember.

Surely we talked about other things, but the afternoon is beginning to seem more and more like a dream. He told me that if I forgot our meeting, he would reintroduce himself at some future time (assuming he remembers), and that we would exchange some rather interesting email regarding his theories. And at times it seems like there was someone else there with us, but as hard as I think, I can't remember who it was.

I really need to get some sleep. Hopefully this will all become clear some day, and if not, then it will be a really lovely, if vague, memory. Good night.
