Stuff I forgot

Yesterday I meant to say that my PDA page came in very handy when I was reinstalling stuff-I opened that page while I was dragging and dropping stuff out of my PDA backups folder, so that I could be sure to get the applications I needed and not re-install something that I'm not currently using. It saved me some time.

When I was uploading yesterday's entry, I discovered that I had somehow totally left out another entry, the one for September 6, as if it had never been written. So I put it back in the index, and it's back in the page sequence, and looking to see what it was reminded me of another odd people watching thing from last night.

I was driving home, I'd just left work, and I was on the phone with Bob (I always call him when I leave so he knows I'm on my way), and up ahead on the corner I saw what looked like a woman flailing away with what looked like a teddy bear, whacking it against the sidewalk.

As I got closer I could see that it was a woman, and she did indeed have a teddy bear, a white one, and she was beating it on the sidewalk, then whirling it around her head, and jumping around and yelling. I said, "Oh dear, there's a crazy person on the corner," and I watched her as I drove by. She was wearing big men's sandals with the straps flopping loose, and a shift dress and a light overcoat, and her face looked absolutely insane. I watched her in the rearview mirror to see if she was going to run out into the street, but for as long as I could see her, she stayed on the sidewalk.

Then later there was one of the regular characters I see--an old man with nearly waist-length grey hair and beard, with some kind of scarf wrapped around his head, and wearing a parka. He wears it all year, whether it's December or August. I often see him walking downtown, and I mentioned him once to my sister, who also works downtown, and she knew who he was--knew his name, even, I think, although I don't remember what it was. He also carries what looks like a small stack of books in his arms, and wears a pack of some kind.

Probably a very interesting character. Interesting-looking, anyway. He's nearly monochromatic, with everything he's wearing kind of a gray or khaki color, and his grey hair, and his brown scarf. He looks like the kind of person that someone ought to write a story about. I would, if I knew his story.

I have a new desktop at home, downloaded from a new Barbie site, 1 Modern Circle. Barbie's a movie producer now. Who knew?
