I'm in some kind of a big building that feels more like a school than an office building. Lots of light-colored tile and white painted walls, lots of small rooms and corridors. I look out through a doorway and see an amazing view. Lush, deep green trees, a creek running through them with a humpbacked bridge over it, made of some sort of golden-colored wood. There's a small waterfall, and in the sky, seeming so close you could touch it, a brilliant full moon. I grab the digital camera and go out to take a picture, but as I'm framing the picture, I see that there's some sort of strip mall next to this beautiful area. There are all kinds of people in a parking lot, and people going in and out of stores and restaurants. I try to ignore them, but I can't seem to frame a picture that doesn't include any of the stuff that I don't want to see. So I go back in. But the view, as seen from inside the building, is so amazing that I go outside to try again to take a picture of it. Someone comes out and asks me if the total eclipse of the moon is still going on, and I gesture at the moon and say, no, the moon is right there, look! And then I realize that the moon isn't real, that in fact there are three moons in the sky, at least two of them made of paper, because one is right on top of the other. To cover my confusion and embarrassment, I explain what an eclipse is. I say, do you know what causes an eclipse? The moon actually has no light of its own, the light we see is the reflection of the sun's light on the moon's surface. An eclipse happens when one of the big planets, like Uranus or Neptune, comes between the sun and the moon and blocks out the sun's light. Then I'm thinking that maybe Saturn is one of the planets that could cause an eclipse, too, but I'm not sure, so I don't mention it. I suddenly see flames shooting from one of the restaurants in the strip mall, and I look around, expecting to see a firetruck, but there isn't one, and everyone seems to be acting as if nothing is out of the ordinary. I look around at my companions, and they tell me not to worry, that it's a barbeque restaurant and that happens all the time. Val interpreted this dream for me: Dreams about buildings and/or houses represent the self, i.e. you dreamed you were in a building that "feels more like a school than an office building. Lots of light-colored tile and white painted walls, lots of small rooms and corridors." - I would interpret this as having to do with learning something, possibly a new skill, maybe going back to school (is this in the picture for you)? The interesting part of your dream is this part: I grab the digital camera and go out to take a picture, but as I'm framing the picture, I see that there's some sort of strip mall next to this beautiful area. There are all kinds of people in a parking lot, and people going in and out of stores and restaurants. I try to ignore them, but I can't seem to frame a picture that doesn't include any of the stuff that I don't want to see. So I go back in. Basically, this would mean not being able to "block out" anything you "don't want to see" as in don't want to deal with. Wanting to take a picture from the inside of the building would symbolize that you are determined to "have" the best part i.e. it's your subconscious' way of telling you to be/that you are persistant.
You write that: A dream image of the moon frequently signals a flash of creativity, sometimes wealth, and if you're a woman it can also indicate ovulation (but only you know that.) The fact that you dreamed of three moons relates back to the self when you think of the self as mental-physical-spiritual. The two that are made of paper are the two aspects of that triune that you are feeling least confident about, but you are aware they are there and subconsciously you know everything's fine because the fact that you dreamed about paper moons (typically associated with childhood craft activities) indicates that your creative mind is in overdrive looking for new solutions to old challenges. The push-pull between what you know consciously and what you still need to "grow into" subconsciously (confidence in two of those areas) is indicated by the embarassment you felt and the uncertainty about Saturn. Astrologically, Saturn is associated with change and you've had a lot of change lately.
You write that: According to one of my reference books (I had to look this part up) " A burning building often indicates helplessness and fear - perhaps you believe you have gone too far or said too much and are unable to repair some damage you have done to a relationship or situation" It also states that flames can indicate cleansing - which would, in my view, seem more in line with your dream overall.
![]() October 28, 1999: I dreamed that the company I've been talking to about a job hired me. They first mentioned a salary of $54,000, then changed it, and gave me $64,000 per year, plus they gave me a company car, some sort of big, expensive luxury car like a Jaguar or a BMW or something. There was also something about a company yacht. I don't like boats, but I figured I'd better play along and act like I did so that they would think I was a team player. In the same dream, I thought of a new, inventive way to present a journal in a framed format, sort of like a webring, with the navigation in a top frame--one part of it showing "next" and "previous" with regard to the journal you were currently looking at, and another part going on to the next journal in the ring.
![]() October 20, 1999: I was applying for a job, and part of the interview was an HTML test. I was given an assignment and all the other employees stood around and watched to see how I would implement it. The things I was supposed to do were strange and unfamiliar to me, like instead of aligning things by "top" and "bottom," I was supposed to use North or South, and I wasn't sure I was doing it right. I was supposed to be producing some sort of advertising placard for a real estate business. I finally turned around and said that all the people watching me was making me nervous, and could I do this on my own, and they all stepped back a pace or two, but still stayed there, watching.
![]() My nieces were sitting at a picnic-type table with a bunch of other girls, and Mallory had a HUGE Beanie Baby thing sitting next to her, a big yellow chicken like the mascot chicken that shows up at basketball games. I petted it, and rubbed under its chin, and it bumped its head under my hand like a cat. I said that I was going to have to get one of those, and started thinking about where I would go to buy one.
![]() I was in an office, and no one had decorated for Halloween, and I wanted to, but wasn't sure I should. I found a big table full of Halloween stuff that no one seemed to be using, and selected a candle holder shaped like a ghost with a pumpkin on its head, and on top of the pumpkin was a glass globe to hold the candle, which was a small white votive. I put the holder on my desk and lit the candle and enjoyed it immensely, then when I went home I couldn't remember whether I'd blown it out or not, and thought what a shame it would be if I burned down the building.
![]() October 11, 1999: I went to the cafeteria to get some lunch, but it was closed. I wasn't sure what to do, then I ran into this old guy who seemed to know everything there was to know about the cafeteria. It was sort of like a book or movie in which the janitor or someone ends up being the actual owner of the company. He found some stuff for me to make a sandwich--some very thinly sliced dry meat, like dried beef, and some cheese. I was afraid it was actually old, but decided to eat it anyway. Before I could, though, he asked if he could take a bite, and I said sure, and he took two big bites of the sandwich, then gave it to me.
![]() October 9, 1999: I was in some sort of factory in England, being taken on a tour. I was shown photographs of two different auto manufacturing plants which sent up flares of colored lights at night, one orange and one blue, so that the children would think that they cars were made by fairy dust. And there was an exhibit in which the entertainment was two young women who were painting, but they were having trouble with the concept of "through," as in a tunnel or something.
