We had our annual Fall trek to the Ozarks last weekend. I had kind of wanted to wait until
this weekend, since our anniversary is the 25th, but I'm glad we didn't, because it's
already getting cold. We had intended to go to Silver Dollar City on Saturday, but we decided
it didn't make a lot of sense to spend the money and end up walking around shivering and
then leaving early.
So we just took a drive and went down into Arkansas a little way, then turned around and came
back.
On Friday afternoon we played miniature golf; the place where we played last year was
apparently closed for the season, but there was another place that was kind of cool--there
was a little train on a track that took you up to a higher level, and then as you played,
you moved down. Bob, of course, being a golfer, is a pretty good putter, but I didn't
do too badly. I think he only beat me by half a dozen strokes or so.
And we went to the dam, and fed the fish at the trout hatchery, and had several good meals.
And one really bad one, but it wasn't anybody's fault, I guess I just chose poorly. On
Sunday Bob wanted to take me to a little restaurant where he'd eaten before, and where he'd
had a really good breakfast. It was a little hole in the wall place, which doesn't
necessarily mean either good or bad food, but I was a little apprehensive.
I ordered hot tea, which wasn't "hot," but just barely warm. It took about ten minutes
to get any kind of tea flavor out of the bag. And they made "baked" omelettes, which
sounded okay, but mine was about the consistency of
shoe leather, and the bacon on the side was nearly raw. But hey! No carbs! I could
have gotten pancakes, and I'm sure they would have been good, but I was trying to get
back in the groove of my diet.
On Saturday morning we had breakfast at the Golden Corral, which is always good, and a
better choice for me, since it isn't much more expensive, and there are a lot of things
to choose from. We had dinner there Friday night, too, and it was shrimp night, which
was good.
I had started a new bag, so I knitted all the way down and all the way back, and it was
a very pleasant weekend. The kitties were glad to see us when we got back, and Dinah
has basically not left my lap since we walked in. Well, except for the times when I'm
not there, and she's on Bob's lap. He said last night that she was lying on his
lap and he needed to get up to check on my dinner, and when he tried to stand up and put
her down, she growled at him. She's definitely strong willed.
Yesterday Tealeaves was featured on
DailyOM, which is a lovely
site that offers a daily inspirational article. They're posted on the site, and also
sent out in a daily email that you can subscribe to. I was already aware of the site,
so it was even more exciting to see that one of my sites was chosen. Sort of like
being chosen as the Daily Candy pick, or
something like that. It doubled my traffic for the day, so hopefully some of those
people stuck around and discovered the rest of the site.
