Cuddling duties

I know I've spoken before about how bereft Pyewacket is when Bob is out of town. She pouts around for a couple of days, glaring at me, and sleeps at the very end of the bed, on his side. But after a couple of days, the isolation becomes too much for her and she grudgingly climbs up on my lap for a cuddle.

Dinah always sits on my lap in the mornings--I take my shower, come downstairs and sit at the computer to check email, and she immediately jumps up and settles in for a half hour or so. That was the routine this morning, too, and then Pyewacket got up on the shelf in front of the window and strained toward me, considering, as if she was going to try to bully Dinah off my lap.

I said, "Oh, for Heaven's sake," and picked her up and held her in my arms, Dinah still on my lap. Not a very comfortable or convenient position for me, but both of the cats were happy, and that's really all that matters.

She wiggled around until she was lying upside down in my arms like a baby, and I was able to hold her in my left arm while I managed to use my right hand on the trackball. I couldn't type anything, so couldn't actually answer email, but I could read it. After about ten minutes, my cell phone rang, and as I juggled cats and tried to grab the phone, Dinah jumped down, so I was able to put Pyewacket down, and she stayed on my lap until I got up to go get dressed. And cried when I set her down.

I'll be glad when Bob gets home tonight, if only to share the cat cuddling duties.

Continuing on with my musical theme of the month, I've been working on an iMix, and having a lot of fun playing around with music, and getting a nice selection of some of my favorite stuff. Like making a list of almost anything, I have to put in the caveat that this is just a list for this moment in time, that there's a lot of other wonderful stuff that I've been listening to, but sometimes you just have to narrow it down, you know?

I uploaded the list to iTunes, and I'm not sure that this will work, but I think if you have iTunes, clicking on the album cover image or this link will open up your iTunes application and take you to my mix. Maybe. It seemed to work for me, anyway.

I very carefully chose albums that actually appear for sale in iTunes, because if you don't, they don't show up. I'm currently quite enamoured of Mack Starks' record, Elsewhere, and a several-years-old one of Ryan Adams' called Gold. Anyway, it was fun making it. I'm going to start working on a Christmas one now.
