And another thing
Last night's dinner was creamed chipped beef on toast, one of my favorite meals. A comfort meal, I suppose, from my childhood. It was excellent. With a side dish of steamed brocolli and another Margarita, but a short one, and very weak. Just like I like it, frankly. And I made it to 10:00 before I went to bed.
Another thing I bought at Target last weekend, along with all the Halloween goodies, was a new cat toy. It's a little piece of indoor-outdoor carpet cut in the shape of a mouse, with a springy tail topped with a ball of sparkly tinsel. Here, they're inspecting it, as they do any new thing that comes into the house.
Dinah loves it. She likes batting the tail around, chewing on the tinsel ball, and sharpening her claws on the carpet. After the initial inspection, Pye hasn't really paid much attention to it, but I knew Dinah would like it. Pyewacket is still partial to her stuffed catnip fish, little wadded up balls of paper which she can play with for hours, and anything I'm knitting, especially wool.
I had started a scarf using some alpaca yarn that I got on clearance. When it turned out that I wasn't going to have enough, I thought it would be a simple matter to get some more. It turned out that that color of yarn had been discontinued, and I couldn't find it anywhere. I mentioned it on my knitting blog, and someone wrote and said she might have some if I still wanted it. I wrote back and said I did, and she looked through her stash and found a ball and a half, which she said she would be happy to send to me.
It came in the mail last night--from France! I had no idea she lived in France. It was very cool to get the package, and Pyewacket was so excited. I had to disappoint her and tell her that it wasn't for her, but that if there was any left after I finished the scarf, I'd knit her a new mouse.
