Willa's Journal

Monday, November 30, 1998

TodayBob met me down on the Plaza tonight for dinner, then we walked around and window shopped a little, and went in a few stores--the Body Shop, the Nature Company store, the public television store. We didn't buy anything; Bob was mostly getting ideas for Christmas, I think. We saw a lot of fun stuff. The best thing was a magnetic cat, like the magnetic David and Venus statues--it was a tabby cat that looked a lot like Pyewacket. It came with magnetic clothing--the "CEO" look (a little three piece suit), the Queen Mum look (a crown, cape and sceptor), and the best one--the Karate Cat: a special "angry face" and a judo outfit, for a "cat that can cut you in half." Seemed wildly appropriate, but Bob thought the $13.95 price tag was a bit steep. Maybe I'll see it in my Christmas stocking . . .

There was also a set of tiny cat magnets at the Nature Co., lots and lots of cool toys, blank journals, and a set of star and moon fingernail decals that I coveted. I'm sort of into those right now for some reason. I have a tiny Christmas tree on my left thumbnail at the moment. I'll probably change it to a seashell or something the end of the week. Oh, and at the Body Shop there was a whole line of hemp oil products that I'd like to try, especially a tin of "Elbow Grease" that I tried on the back of my hand and that felt wonderful. And lots of aromatherapy things . . .

I'm still obsessing about the notification list. I had uploaded last night's journal entry this morning, but wanted to look at it one more time before I sent out the notification message, and I ran out of time before I had to leave for work. So I looked at it once I got to work, changed a couple of words, and went into Yahoo Mail to send out the message.

I get my personal mail through Yahoo while I'm at work; it saves reconfiguring my mail program, and it works out very well. And I had this brilliant idea, suddenly, that by having set up the notification list at OneList, I could send out the message from anywhere, not just from home, where the "real" mailing list is.

So I sent out the message, and suddenly realized that it wouldn't be going out from "willa @willa.com," but from "willac@yahoo.com," which is what my address appears to be when I'm using Yahoo Mail. And I couldn't really tell if it really went or not. So I went into Netscape mail and sent another message, and I really couldn't tell if that one worked or not, either, but then half a dozen or so people wrote that it did, that in fact both messages worked, and I needn't have worried.

Susan wrote, though, "You are such an excellent worrier."

I told Bob about my dream that a movie was being made of something that I had written. He said, "Oh, and what was it? Your list of what you carry in your purse?"

Love like you've never been hurt

Dance like nobody's watching
