~~Birthday week is over~~
Sunday, November 24, 5:30 p.m.

We're getting ready to go over to Bob's parents' house for an early Thanksgiving, but Bob got interested in watching "Enemy Mine" while I was changing my clothes, so although I'm ready now, he's not. I told him to just let me know when he's ready to go.

It was terribly cold here today, not very inviting outside. I ended up spending most of the day inside, doing laundry and just hanging out. My sister came over briefly with a birthday present--a pottery relish tray/salt & pepper set from an antique store, and my other sister called to wish me a happy birthday. And I got lots of good wishes, virtual bouquets and postcards from my net friends--you really make me smile.

I finally left the house around 3:00 just to get out. I wandered around Best Buy for awhile and bought some film and batteries, and had a late lunch at a cheap Mexican chain place. Sort of a weird birthday.

Bob came home last night with a Clinique gift set for me, which I can definitely use. We had pizza delivered for dinner, and at around 8:00 I laid down on the bed "for just a minute" and went to sleep. Bob came in at some point and woke me up to ask me if I was going to finish the laundry. He said I just glared at him and went back to sleep. I woke up when he came to bed at 2:00 and then couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up and made a cup of cocoa and answered mail. Some of you were really surprised to find me up at 3:00 a.m., weren't you? Since it was technically my birthday, and it was kind of neat being up in the middle of the night, I opened my last birthday present from Barb--a t-shirt was a silly looking cat on it that says, "I got this cat t-shirt for my husband . . . Good trade, huh?"

I went back to bed at 4:00 and slept until around 9:00, so I guess I got plenty of sleep, albeit in two shifts.

Looks like Bob's ready to go--back later.

Later - 8:30 p.m.

We had a nice dinner with Bob's parents, his grandmother, sister, brothers, and assorted spouses and children. His parents gave me two Fiesta Ware serving bowls, one red-orange and one aqua, and his grandmother gave me $5 and told me to take myself out to lunch with it, which I intend to do tomorrow.

It's been a nice week. And I guess the gift-giving isn't over yet, because Micki's card promised a box that would arrive late.

Someone nominated my site for a People Chase award. The People Chase designation is awarded to sites deemed outstanding in either content, design, or both, and also incorporates a web ring concept in that you can circle around to all of the awarded sites rather than just linking back to the main People Chase site.

My site was judged as a "gestalt" site, that is, outstanding in both content and design. I assume it was one of you who nominated me, but they didn't tell me who it was. So thank you, whoever you are. If you want to visit some of the People Chase sites, the links are at the bottom of my home page.
