A good hiding place

Bob wrapped my birthday presents in a giftbag--a fairly large, shiny black bag with red tissue inside--very elegant. After I unwrapped everything, I had stuffed the tissue back in the bag and set the bag on the floor, intending to fold it up and put it away so I could use it again, maybe. But Dinah was fascinated with it, and later that night she climbed inside. We always like to do the "bag o'cat" trick, so I picked it up by the handles and carried it, bag and cat, upstairs to Bob's office.

I deposited her there, she scrambled out, and we laughed and I went back downstairs, leaving the bag in the office. Once it had had ten pounds of cat carried around inside it, it wasn't suitable for re-use as a gift bag, so I didn't worry about it.

Last night I was up late writing and working; it was almost midnight by the time I went up to bed. The gift bag was lying by the side of the bed, with red tissue strewn everywhere. I assumed Bob had brought it into the bedroom for some reason, but he wasn't home, he was out with a friend, so I got in bed and tried to go to sleep. Just as I was starting to fall asleep, Dinah came up and leapt into the pile of tissue. I didn't want to get up and do anything about it, so I just buried my head under the pillow, and went to sleep.

I woke up when Bob came home--sometime around 12:30, I think--and I asked him if he'd brought the bag into the bedroom. He said no, that Dinah must have. I would have loved to have seen her dragging that into the bedroom.

It's her new toy, apparently. A good hiding place, certainly, and the tissue makes such a great rustling noise . . .

My latest web design project was to design a site for David Knopfler, who is holding a virtual dinner to benefit Adopt-A-Minefield. The "virtual" part means that rather than an actual dinner, he'll be having a chat session with a limited number of participants who have made a donation to the charity.

It should be fun. If anyone is interested in participating, please feel free to check it out. I'll be there if I can, but I'm going to be in Florida on vacation and I doubt if I'll be able to join in, although I do plan on making a donation to the cause.
