Willa's Journal
Friday, May 10, 2002: Briefly

I haven't spent much time knitting this week. Bob took me out to dinner Monday night (Mongolian barbeque) and Misty took me out to dinner Wednesday night (salmon and mashed potatoes at Houlihan's); I can't remember what happened on Tuesday--I probably fell asleep in my chair--but finally last night I finshed up the bear's sweater, er, vest.

One night--maybe that was Tuesday?--I picked up the stitches around the front and neck and knitted the ribbing, but it didn't look right because I hadn't picked up enough stitches, so I ripped it out and did it again. And then I tried it on the bear and realized that the front pieces weren't wide enough and there wasn't going to be enough overlap for buttons and buttonholes.

I didn't want to rip it out again, so I decided it was a vest and did ribbing around the armholes instead of making sleeves. I had been going to make him a stocking cap to match the sweater, but now I think I'll make a beret for a sort of summery outfit, and make the sweater and stocking cap later.

The knitting and crocheting for Barbie books came last night, and I just briefly flipped through them. I think they're going to be fun; many of the patterns could be used as package decorations or Christmas tree ornaments, too, I think. And there are a few Ken patterns as well, like a Santa Claus outfit. I might make Qui Gon and Obi Wan some clothes . . .
