Willa's Journal
My dreams are an integral part of each 24 hour cycle. I don't view them in a voyeuristic sense, I see them as direct experience. They are lived, not watched like TV. ~~ Nick Bantock

Thursday, May 9, 2002: On the Boardwalk; Magical Fax

Boardwalk over ocean with lots of small "tents" on stilts--larger ones and smaller, one-room ones, people were actually living in them, using them as apartments. The larger ones were $2,000/month, and smaller ones $800. No bathrooms, though, that I could see (you rolled up the side panels during the day and people could see right in. I watched a guy on the phone lean back and fall out of his chair, and a nude couple on rafts floated underneath the bridge.

Bob figured out a way to fax solid objects. You just put them within the space of the open printer, punched in the number, and hit "send." It caused a duplicate of the item to appear at the other end. In this case, we were sending a fax machine to Tim by faxing the fax machine itself. I forgot to send the CD with the installation files and the manual; Bob told me to just send it after the first one was finished. He said the machine just "gins" the stuff that's placed within the purview of the open printer (hard "g") (his mother coined the term).

I kept saying, "Oh my God, Bob!" but I wasn't sure whether it was fear that we were going to go under water and drown, or fall off a cliff, or awe that I was seeing all these wonderful things, albeit not at their best . . .
