Willa's Journal

Thursday, July 27, 2000: Storm

I was sitting here late last night, thinking about writing a journal entry, albeit a short one, when it started raining. And there was thunder and lightning, and the rain was lashing against the front windows so hard that it made me look out to see if it was actually hail.

It seemed to be just rain, though, but the violence of the storm was such that I decided I'd better log off and unplug the computer, just in case. It was time to go to bed, anyway.

This morning I didn't think anything about it until I turned on the radio and heard that a lot of people were without power, and that some traffic lights were out. I didn't see much evidence of it until I got off the highway and drove through Fairway, a small community close to the Plaza--there were lots of tree limbs down, and one major intersection was without traffic lights, although someone had obviously been out and placed a portable four-way-stop sign in the middle of the intersection.
