I'm very glad it's Friday. It's been a long week. I always look forward to Fridays,
of course, just because it's the weekend coming up, but also because Bob and I do a couple of
special things. We've gotten in a habit of getting Chinese food for dinner on Friday nights,
for one thing. We get it at the grocery store--there's a little deli-style counter there--so
it's much less expensive than it would be at the Chinese restaurant, and it's just as
good, although the selection isn't as broad.
The other thing is that it's my television night. Monk
is on Friday nights, and that's my new favorite television show. I usually have one.
In the past, it's been Wings, Northern Exposure, Rockford Files (boy,
that was a long time ago!), and the latest one was Nash Bridges, probably my favorite
of all of those. I can't remember any others, although I'm sure there were some (well,
there were the Monkees, of course, and the Sonny and Cher Show, but I'm talking
about my adult life). The
current one is Monk. And then afterwards, if I'm not too sleepy, I stay up to watch
Law and Order: SVU. At first, I watched it just out of inertia, but I really
like Ice-T. I've liked him ever since he played a mutant kangaroo in Tank Girl. Too
weird, huh?
I saw Eugene for the first time in almost two months yesterday. He had gone to India to
visit his family around the first part of December, and was gone for a month. His first
day back to work was the day I went into the hospital. He did all my work while I was
gone, as well as his own.
I mentioned in my notify message last night that Dave came into my office and took my
picture late yesterday afternoon, and I mentioned it in the context of how tired I was.
Not the best picture I've ever taken, but not bad, I guess. I like it because it shows
the exposed brick in my office, and the little goddess in the "grotto" (actually just a
niche made by a broken brick).
He needed the picture because he was putting up a "Willa is Back!" newsflash at
our
website. It's nice to be missed, but if I'd known there was going to be a photo
shoot, I might have dressed a little nicer . . .
He put up a "Eugene is Back from India!" newsflash, too, with a link to Eugene's picture
album from his trip. My favorite is the one where he's being
blessed
by an elephant.
