Ostrich mode
Yesterday Pyewacket and Dinah were chasing each other around the house, and Pyewacket decided to hide under the Christmas present I got them this year: a Boogie Mat from Fat Cat, Inc.
They make the best toys--Barb got them two, a rat that has become their best friend, and, I don't know, some weird rat thing with a foot-long tail that Pyewacket kills about once a day. I've seen Pyewacket root around in the cat toy basket looking specifically for the rat. I don't know what it is about it, but it's definitely a favorite.
Dinah came over to investigate:
Pyewacket ignored her, and she went away.
Later, after Pye had tired of hiding and gone somewhere else, Dinah came back and tried it herself. This is Dinah in ostrich mode. That's the rat, under the table.
Bob's dad ordered them a new toy, too--a big nylon tube lined with fleece. Dinah has incorporated it into her golfball-in-a-ring game--she pulls the tube over and gets inside it, then hits the ball around the ring from inside.
I'm so proud of myself--okay, well, there are lots of things that I should have done, should be doing, but you have to make choices--I've already finished one Christmas gift for next year, and am about halfway through two others. I've decided I'm going to make almost everything for next year, and there's no reason why I can't. I may not be able to sustain this level of motivation--Bob said this morning, "If you keep this up, you'll have everything finished by the end of January!"--but I should certainly be able to do what I want to do by the end of the year.
