Bob's family has had to hire a temp from ManPower to come sit with his dad so that he gets the care he needs. I had heard about people hiring patient advocates, but this is the first time I'd realized you might need to go outside the hospital and hire someone to perform what would seem to be normal nursing duties. And not even nursing duties, but just watching, or really, even noticing.
Bob's mother has been there pretty much around the clock, and he and his brothers have been taking turns, trying to be sure that one of them is there most of the time. His sister came in on Saturday, but she doesn't live in town, so hasn't been able to be here as much as she would have liked.
I know I'm naive about some things, but it just astounded me that you can't expect a hospital to take care of you. I guess like anything else, you have to look out for yourself and your own.
The really frightening thing, of course, is thinking about people who have no one to do this for them. And oh dear, now I'm thinking about us when we get to that point, with no children to watch out for us. I guess we'd better hope that we stay healthy . . .
I went through and validated the links from my old font resources page, and made a new page of font links. Most of them are freeware, some are shareware, and a couple are pay sites, but they're outstanding ones. Mostly unusual stuff (what a surprise!).
