I found out who sent the kitties the scratching boxes--my dad! I was sitting in his hospital
room yesterday, talking, and he said, "I ordered you something from an ad I saw in the
newspaper," and I knew immediately what he was talking about. He was surprised they came so
quickly.
It was nice to have that mystery solved.
I don't think I mentioned that I had my six week post-op appointment on Monday. The surgeon
said I was doing fine, that there were couple of stitches yet to dissolve, but they looked
ready to go, and he released me to do anything I wanted. So I went back to the gym yesterday.
I tried not to overdo it: I walked on the treadmill for about fifteen minutes, then did my
regular weight circuit, but I did a few less repititions that I normally do.
I talked to one of the personal trainers on my way out. I told her that I had been about at
the point for a reevaluation when I had to go into the hospital, and that I had been out for
about two months. She said why didn't I do my regular workout for about four weeks, just to
kind of ease back into it, then see her and she'd reprogram a new workout for me, which
sounds fine. I thought maybe I'd be sore this morning, but I wasn't.
Then after the gym yesterday, and after I went to the hospital to see my dad, I went shopping.
It was late in the day, and I was getting tired--I still don't have quite the
stamina I had before the surgery, and I also know that all the stress of my dad's
hospitalization is wearing--but Bob and the guys at work had been teasing me about my
baggy clothes, so I thought I'd see if I could find anything at Kohl's.
I tried on several things from the clearance racks, but didn't find anything I liked. What
I really needed was jeans, though, and I grabbed a pair to try on, even though they weren't
on sale, and they fit. In a much smaller size than the ones I bought last year. I
only bought one pair because they only had my (new!) size in one style and I'd rather try
a few different ones before I commit (especially since they were full price). But I was
very pleased.
So, all in all, not a bad weekend.
