I actually meant to get online last night and write a (probably short) entry
saying Happy Winter Solstice, but I fell asleep about 9:00 in Bob's chair
in the office, and when I woke up, I was covered in cats. Actually, I
woke up when Bob came into the office with the camera--I saw him coming
up the stairs, and I saw that he was carrying something with a little
green light, and I wondered what it was, then, FLASH.
Even in my sleep, I was carefully keeping Dinah separated from Pyewacket.
When they both lay on me, which doesn't happen all that often, Pye studiously
ignores the fact that Dinah's there, and Dinah does everything she can to
be invisible to Pye. So I try to help in the effort. If Dinah had slipped
down so that she was touching Pye, Pye would undoubtedly turn around and
swat her.
What got me out of the chair was a foot cramp, one of those awful ones that
you have to get up and jump around on to make go away. Bob tried massaging
my foot, and that helped, but not enough. I had to jettison the cats
and get up and walk around, and by then I figured I might as well just go
to bed. I ended up sleeping until 9:00 this morning--about ten hours. Way
too much considering all that I have to do this weekend, but I know I needed
it.
So far this morning I have done two loads of laundry, unpacked the last suitcase
and put everything away, put clean towels in the bathrooms, made a batch of
Chex Mix, washed dishes, ate a bagel and cream cheese (and drank a Diet Coke).
Bob's cleaned the litter boxes and collected trash from the various wastebaskets,
and he's upstairs getting ready to go to work. As soon as he leaves, I'll go
get dressed and head out to finish up my shopping.
Last night was supposed to be tree trimming night, but it didn't end up
that way. I had forgotten to buy French bread for the fondue, so we didn't
do that, either. We had sandwiches and shrimp dip, and watched what must have
been a Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon or something, which led to
me falling asleep in the chair. (Maybe if Troi and Worf had actually
finished that kiss, I would have stayed awake . . .)
So Bob's in charge of buying French bread before he comes home, and tonight
we'll try again to decorate the tree.
Later:
I didn't get out as early as I had planned; I ended up wrapping a bunch of
stuff first. I had lunch at Subway, then spent the rest of the day
shopping. I really didn't have a lot left to do, but the places I had
to go were kind of far-flung, so I spent a lot of time driving around, and
a LOT of time searching for parking places.
But I eventually got home. Bob went upstairs to watch television for
awhile while I decompressed from shopping (he made me a Bloody Mary to
faciliate that), and when I went upstairs, I found him having cuddle
time with the cats.
