I had a
really nice, relaxing day today. Bob took the car and went to play golf, and I
spent the day at the pool. I had breakfast in the restaurant in the lobby, then settled myself
on a lounge poolside, and read, wrote, and generally had a lazy day. I walked over to the pool
bar and got a Piña Colada about 11:00, and I moved my lounge with the movement of
the sun (to the shade, not the sun), but that was the extent of what I did until Bob got back
around 3:00.
Then we went over to the bar and I had another Piña Colada and some shrimp,
then we played in the pool for about an hour, then went back upstairs and got dressed
and went out to dinner.
Wouldn't it be great to be on vacation all the time?
The only problem with the day was that I misjudged the sun (I always do), and got pretty
sunburned. I thought I was staying in the shade, but with the reflection from the pool, and
what I got in the intervals before I moved into the shady spots, I guess I got more than
enough sun.
I'm making a list of stuff to take to Mexico in February, and at the top is sunscreen.
I told Bob that there was another swimsuit that I had considered buying when I bought
the one I got yesterday, and he thought I should get it, too--if you find one that you like,
and that fits, it doesn't make much sense not to buy it, particularly when it costs $19.99.
So we went up to St. Armand's Circle on the way to dinner, and I bought another suit. This
one is solid turquoise (okay, the whole reason I bought it, really, is that I was telling Bob
about it, and said it was turquoise, and he said, "Oh, that would be pretty with your
eyes!" I'm a complete sucker for flattery.) with a sort of waffle pattern. One piece, a little
lower neckline than the flowered one.
I'll need more than one suit anyway, for Mexico, because they never seem to dry overnight
and I hate to put on a damp, clammy suit. Ick.

The only reason I wouldn't want to stay down here
another week (apart from the expense, of course) is that I miss the kitties.
Misty's taking good care of them, of course. She said she was going to spoil them, and I
told her that I didn't think it was possible to spoil them any more than they already are . . .
She said she and Pye play tag in the front hall, and that Dinah sometimes runs with them,
too, but when Misty reaches down to pet her, she runs off. She's a strange little one,
not as openly affectionate as Pyewacket, but sweet and affectionate in her own way (well,
mostly to me).
Bob keeps saying that if we just had the cats with us, everything would be wonderful. But
barring that, I'm ready to go home. I'm all packed except for the wet stuff, which I'll put in
a plastic bag in the morning. We'll go out in a little while for a last walk on the beach, go to
bed, then get up at 6:30 in the morning to finish packing and drive back to Orlando to
catch the plane home.
Nice to go, and nice to go home.
