Amazing Grace

I took these pictures this morning when I went out to get the paper; Bob has since replaced the brass light fixture with a black one which I haven't seen yet, and put a new brass kickplate on the door.

Now that the paint is dry, it doesn't look bad at all. I think it looks pretty nice agains the brick. I don't know if the painters came back today to finish up or not, but probably not, since it's very windy. There are still gutters to put up, and trim to paint on the unit next door, then I think they'll be finished. They did a good job, even if it did give the cats nervous breakdowns.

After I ate my lunch today (tomato soup and saltines), I went out and walked. I bought a pedometer, and I'm trying to find a route that is approximately one mile long, so I'm trying different ways. Today I took a route that took me by a small park, and as I approached it, I heard the strains of "Amazing Grace" wafting across the air. I looked around, and there was a guy standing by a bench playing the bagpipes.

I've heard him before when I've been out walking, but I've never actually seen him before. He wasn't wearing a kilt or anything, just a regular guy in jeans and a polo shirt playing the bagpipes in the park. I took the opportunity to rest and stand and listen to him until he finished the song.

I assume he works somewhere around there and practices on his lunch hour; he wasn't out at the street like he would be if he was busking for change. A cool little surprise.
