All Stars

Look! New red shoes:

I've been wanting red Converse sneakers forever. These aren't exactly right, of course, being mules instead of regular low-tops, but they'll do for summer, and they were only $15.00 at T. J. Maxx. The bottoms say they're 7's, the tag says they're 9's, I think they're more like 8's, but I suppose it doesn't matter.

The finches found the birdfeeder tonight. Or, well, they certainly could have found it earlier, but I saw them tonight. A male came and sat in the tree and sang and sang and sang, and pretty soon the rest of them started coming in. He went down to then feeder and ate a few seeds, but they were nervous because there were people next door making noise, and there was a pair of cardinals flapping around, too, and then the doves came in to feed on the ground, and the finches retreated to the trees.

But it made me happy to see them--they were red ones, my favorites--and I'm sure they'll be back.

Last night was another fun evening. We got off work early--mid-afternoon--so I went by Target to pick up a few things to avoid having to go on Saturday, and also was going to pick up the new Harry Potter DVD, but they were out of it, so I ended up going to WalMart. I got Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, as well as Frantic and The Last Action Hero, each of which were $5.88 (not the Harry Potter one, of course, but the other two)!

Bob had said that he was going to surprise me for dinner, and he had made boiled spiced shrimp, Caesar salad, rosemary potatoes, and there were strawberries for dessert. So we fixed plates and ate in the living room, and watched the movie.

I don't think the Harry Potter movies are great movies, I don't think they translate as well to the screen as might be imagined, but they're fun. The effects are good, and the scenery is certainly beautiful. It just seems to me that there isn't a lot of plot development, that they skip from one event to the next without much transition, but maybe that's just me. And I never got the impression from the books that Ron was quite such a wimp, but again, maybe that's just me. I did enjoy it, though.
