Fallen Angel
October 21, 2003

If she'd chosen another route home that day, things might have worked out differently for us, for her.

Perhaps there's a universe where they did. Perhaps there's one where the angels never came at all and we were left alone to muddle through, the way we used to.

Instead, a mile beyond Feldspar, an angel flags us down.

Colin Greenland, "Wings." Starlight 3, Patrick Neilsen Hayden, ed.
